Minecraft Server Rules

Sections can be expanded for more details
No griefing.
  • When in someone else's space, do not: place or break blocks, kill entites, take or move items, place lava or water.
  • Theft is strictly prohibited. Do not borrow something without asking, even if you intend to return the item. This will be considered theft if the original owner raises an issue.
  • Always ask, clarify, and get consent when interacting with someone else's space and items.
  • This applies to Entry. Do not enter the medium with a Frog Temple, another player's base, or the area around spawn/hub. Do not take the End Portal closest to spawn.
No cheating or exploits.
  • This includes but is not limited to x-ray, auto-soup, hacked clients, and anything that gives you a notable advantage over other players.
  • Do not actively look for, experiment with, or use exploits while on the server. If you think you have discovered one, please DM it to a Minecraft server admin. This includes, but is not limited to, block/item duplication.
  • Do not intentionally take actions that you are aware may cause a server crash or that may lag out others to a significant degree.
  • This does not apply to Entry, as that will always cause lag but is a core function of Minestuck.
Do not harm other players.
  • Do not engage in PVP with another player unless they consent.
  • Do not set traps such as TNT, anvils, fall traps, or dripstone.
  • If someone engages you in PVP against your will, you may defend yourself.
  • Accidental injury does not count unless it becomes a trend.
No bigotry.
  • Insensitive remarks, player skins/names, or creations in the world will be investigated.
Do not force lore, roleplaying, or a narrative on others.
  • Do not flood chat with messages that fall into one of those categories.
  • If you'd like to engage with someone in their lore, please take it to PMs or to Discord.
  • If you'd like to roleplay, you may use PMs, Discord messages, or a post in the forum.
Limit graphic topics of discussion.
  • While Homestuck is not always kid-friendly, there is no age limit on the server. Members may be as young as 13.
  • Sexually graphic conversations are not allowed on the Discord server or in the public chat of the Minecraft server.
  • No discussion of suicide, death threats against peoples present or otherwise, or excessive mention of real world acts of violence.
Spawn/Hub rules
  • The following rules apply to the 300 block radius surrounding central areas like world spawn or hub (if the server hub is in a different spot from world spawn)
  • No private property, only communal art/resources such as farms. No one has more rights to build in that space than another unless specified by an OP'd individual. Plan out building projects and communicate with others to avoid conflicts of space.
  • Do not Enter within or in close proximity of spawn or the hub.
  • Do not build structures or terraform in a way that makes it harder for new players to spawn in, or for other players to walk out of the spawn radius.

Warnings and bans

These rules are not exhaustive, and as with everything, there is nuance. Multiple factors will be considered, including testimony from all players involved, how long the member has been on the server, severity of the infraction, and intent. There is no set limit for warnings before a ban is issued, however the reason for a ban will be clearly communicated.

Bans may be anywhere from one day to permanent depending on the offense as well as the above mentioned factors.

Warnings will be issued for minor offenses and could result in a kick from the Minecraft server. Repeated warnings may be escalated to bans.

Dev team members are not exempt from these rules. Feel free to appeal Minecraft bans with the Minecraft server host or Discord moderators.

Common Minecraft Server Courtesy

These are not rules per se but are guidelines to help avoid conflict. Repeatedly and intentionally being discourteous can tread into griefing territory.

Don't prank people, especially if you do not know them and their tolerance for pranks. Be judicious with invisibility.

Try to patch up any holes or make sure they are clearly marked so others do not fall into them. Trapdoors can help with this.

When in doubt, assume good faith. Ask for clarification before assuming someone is trying to instigate issues and clearly communicate if you would like them to stop.

Remember that people use language differently. English is not everyone's first language, and everyone interprets certain words and sentences differently. Tone is difficult to convey through text. Try to be kind with your language.
